Cherohala Skyway - National Scenic Byway. The Cherohala Skyway is 50 miles long with elevations ranging from 900 feet to over 5400 feet above sea level. The paved two lane road crosses through the Cherokee National Forest in Tennessee and the Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina. It offers activities such a hiking, motor touring, motor cycle riding, kayaking, canoeing, camping and bird watching, as well as a visitors center with gift shop.

 

Great Smoky Mountains National Park - Bordering North Carolina and Tennessee with wispy smoke-like fog and beautiful mountains with elevations ranging from 875 to 6,643 feet, the park offers spectacular views with activities like auto or motorcycle touring, bicycling, fishing, hiking, horse riding, picnicking, historic buildings, waterfalls and wildlife viewing.

 

Fontana Dam - At 480 feet, the dam, located on the southwestern boundary of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, is the tallest concrete dam east of the Rocky Mountains, boasting a visitor's center, beautiful scenery, fishing, historic areas, and a Reservoir size of approximately 11,700 acres with 240 miles of shoreline.

 

Cheoah River - Located in Graham County, North Carolina, the Cheoah River is rated as the top whitewater adventure east of the Mississippi. Activities include hiking, fishing, mountain biking, kayaking, water skiing, and nature photography.

 

Deal's Gap Motorcycle Resort - Stop in at the heart of it all or slay the Dragon at the motorcycle and sports car mecca of the Eastern US. The resort is located on the Dragon, US Hwy 129, with its 318 curves in 11 miles. Don't ride? Punkin Center Motorcycle Resort - The official start of the Dragon, US Hwy 129, with its 318 curves in 11 miles. Home of the Wakin the Dragon Biker Rally and the Rumble on the Dragon Biker Rally, along with a campground with RV and campsites, and breakfast and sandwich deli. Let a native to the Dragon, Smoky Mountains, and TN show you all the best motorcycle roads the area has to offer!

 

Cades Cove - Offering historic buildings dating back to the late 19th and early 20th, including a grist mill, a variety of barns, three churches, and a great collection of log homes and outbuildings. The area offers visitor center, restrooms, numerous trails, wildlife viewing, bicycling, and the Cable Mill historic area.

Gatlinburg, Tennessee - Adjacent to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Gatlinburg offers restaurants, shopping, golf, whitewater rafting, downhill snow skiing, horseback raiding, hiking options from 600 miles of trails, fishing in hundreds of miles of streams, unique museums, craftsmen fair, miniature golf courses, motion simulators, go karts or bumper cars, Ripley's Aquarium, haunted houses, or ride the sky lift up the mountain. You'll also find a wealth of special events and entertainment.
